Call for building firms to share in £110m boom

Edinburgh building companies are being sought to help deliver a £110 million boom of work in the city, including a series of high-profile projects.

Robertson Partnership Homes and Robertson Central said that over the coming year it needs sub-contractors for the likes of 250 affordable houses for 21st Century Homes over seven sites, the University of Edinburgh’s Large Animal Research and Imaging Facility, and Raeburn Place Sports Stadium.

Derek Shewan, chief operating officer at Robertson, said: “As the new Queensferry Crossing nears completion, this is a further sign of the confidence there is in Edinburgh and the vibrancy of the economy of Scotland’s capital.”

He said the volume of work available “represents a tremendous opportunity for contractors across a range of trades” who are being invited to attend a “meet the buyer” event at the city’s Lochend Industrial Estate this Thursday.
