Business people on the move

Staff at Barchester Healthcare’s Queens Manor care home in Edinburgh have welcomed a new general manager to head up the team.

Donna Wood will oversee the running of the 60-bed home and be responsible for over 50 staff. Donna has been both a care home and regional manager for a large care provider. She has been a registered nurse for 22 years and worked in Australia and the UK.

Queens Manor is one of over 200 care homes owned by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, that offers high quality care to its local communities.

Donna said: “I am delighted to join the team here at Queens Manor and am enjoying meeting and getting to know our residents. I’m looking forward to managing this home and continuing to provide high quality care.”

Queens Manor provides residential and residential dementia care from respite care to long term stays.

Fiona Fagan the regional operations Director for Queens Manor said: “I am pleased to welcome this addition to the team here at Queens Manor. We are committed to providing high quality care and I really think Donna will be a big hit with our residents.”

The charity Edinburgh Leisure, which runs over 50 sports and leisure facilities and a myriad of projects to support the citizens of Edinburgh to enjoy active and healthy lives, has made some new board appointments.

Scott Haldane has been appointed as Edinburgh Leisure’s new chairperson, taking over from David Milne, who is stepping down after two terms (six years). Jackie Moran has been appointed as vice chair.

Scott has served on the Edinburgh Leisure board for eight years and previously held the position of vice chair, and also chair of the strategy and financial planning committee. Jackie has been on the board for six years, chairing the audit and risk committee.

Pioneering biotechnology firm Horizon Proteins has appointed Iain Lochhead CEO in a boardroom reshuffle to support its growth plans.
