Builders' takeover talks 'advanced'

BUILDERS' merchant Travis Perkins is in "advanced" talks over a £553 million takeover of plumbing specialist BSS, it was announced yesterday.

The groups said the deal would create the UK's leading plumbing and heating distribution business and give them the economies of scale needed to compete in the market.
