Hanover Investors, which has been leading a turnaround at Regenersis, had installed Woodward as chief executive at the media group in 2007 when it began a similar revival there.

Matthew Peacock, executive chairman of Regenersis, highlighted Woodward’s experience in the technology, telecoms and media industries.

Woodward’s appointment as a non-executive director from 1 June comes as the electronics group looks to develop its international reach. Last month Regenersis bought South Africa’s largest television set top box repairer for £1.5 million. It will take over Landela Electronics’ operations in East London and Johannesburg, which service 12 African countries in total.

Regenersis is currently in a 45-day consultation with staff over the possible closure of its Inchinnan plant. The company is thought to be considering redeploying some of the Inchinnan staff to its site in Glenrothes.

Regenersis repairs products including mobile phones, laptops and tablets, set top boxes and televisions and has contracts with major telecoms companies and retailers.

The company acquired its Scottish sites when it bought Total Repair Solutions in a £6.2m deal in 2009.

Since Hanover took a significant stake in Regenersis just over two years ago, its shares have more than tripled in value.
