Brightsolid books a loss after writedown

TURNOVER at Brightsolid, the online arm of Dundee-based publisher DC Thomson, jumped by 23 per cent to £16.2 million in the year to 31 March, boosted by growth at its Findmypast.co.uk genealogy website.

But the firm swung to a loss of 350,000 - compared with a 2m profit in the previous year - after it wrote-down 600,000 relating to its purchase of Findmypast.co.uk in 2007. The firm also bought social network Friends Reunited last year.
