Breakthrough plan to help Scotland's IT sector cash in

SCOTTISH Enterprise has published a new strategy to grow Scotland's IT sector to ensure it gets "more than its fair share" of the estimated $3.8 trillion (£2.4tn) global industry.

The plan, drawn up by SE's Information and Communications Technologies Industry Advisory Group (ICT IAG), will involve the establishment of a new "deal platform" aimed at companies in the sector and potential investors. Grant and equity funding, provided through the Scottish Co-investment Fund and other sources, will be streamlined and targeted at IT firms working in international markets.

Gerry Docherty, chair of the ICT IAG, said: "Our vision is that Scotland will have a reputation as one of the most active and fast-growing locations for ambitious high-growth ICT companies globally."
