Bousfield named new chief financial officer at Aegon

AEGON UK has capped off its management reshuffling with the appointment of Clare Bousfield as chief financial officer, writes Kristy Dorsey.

Bousfield, 41, will join Aegon UK's headquarters in Edinburgh when she takes up her duties in September. She is currently working in Zurich as the head of group audit for Swiss Re.

She succeeds Bill Robertson, who is leaving Aegon to become chief life actuary for the Zurich financial services group in Switzerland.

Bousfield's appointment follows that of Charles Garthwaite as chief risk officer for Aegon UK, and the February appointment of Adrian Grace to the newly-created role of chief operating officer for life and pensions. The moves reflect the efforts of Otto Thoresen, chief executive of Aegon UK, to improve business performance and prepare for market changes such as the regulatory review into retail distribution of life and pension products.

Thoresen said: "Clare brings a depth of experience gleaned from across the insurance industry, and will be a valuable addition to our leadership team."
