Boardroom changes afoot at Scotgold

SCOTGOLD Resources, the firm seeking to open Scotland's only commercial gold mine at Cononish, yesterday announced the departure of two directors following a strategic review.

Adam Davey and Ed Edwards have resigned from the board with immediate effect.

The firm, listed both in London and Australia, suffered a major setback earlier this year when planning permission for its flagship project in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs national park was denied.

Scotgold is mulling its options, which include an appeal to Scottish Government ministers or a second, amended planning application. John Bentley, chairman of Scotgold, said a reduced board was considered to be "more appropriate" as the company continues its fight to secure planning.
