BMI losses soar past £100m mark

LOSSES at regional airline BMI widened by 29 per cent to €120 million (£105m) in the first six months of the year - £38 for each passenger it carried.

Interim accounts for German parent carrier Lufthansa revealed that BMI was worst-affected by the impact of the events in Japan and North Africa compared with the group's other operations. In February BMI said it would axe its Glasgow to Heathrow service.
