Big Freeze cost BAA up to £25m

BAA lost up to £25 million as a result of last month's heavy snow. The figure will be revealed on Wednesday when the UK's largest airport operator, owned by Spanish group Ferrovial, publishes Christmas air traffic statistics for its six airports, including Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The biggest hit was caused by five days of weather-related disruption at Heathrow in the lead-up to Christmas.

British Airways last week estimated that it lost around 50m as a result of the disruption.
