North Sea producer Premier Oil today said a well at the Bagpuss prospect in the Outer Moray Firth encountered 41 feet of hydrocarbon-bearing sands, “in line with pre-drill estimates”.

“We will now work with our partners to carry out a full analysis of the hydrocarbons and reservoir encountered to ascertain whether commerciality can be established.”

According to Premier Oil’s website, analysis of 1981 discovery well results suggests that the Bagpuss and adjacent Blofeld prospects could contain up to 2 billion barrels of oil.
