Bad week: Sir Terry Leahy

OUTGOING Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy left the market disappointed with his firm's Christmas trading update.

Like-for-like sales grew by a mere 0.6 per cent, missing analysts' expectations of a 1.7 per cent rise. While the international business continued to expand, analysts began to question whether the UK business was reaching the limit of its market share.
