Babcock cashes in on outsourcing

A SPLURGE of outsourcing by military customers to cut costs has helped drive a robust first-half performance from Babcock International, the defence services group.

Babcock, which maintains Royal Navy submarines, also said it was considering putting the "for sale" sign up on some of its US defence operations. The company said its order book and bid pipeline for new contracts both remained strong.
