Asos, which targets young fashionistas aiming to emulate the designer looks of celebrities such as Nicole Scherzinger and Cara Delevingne, employs more than 1,200 people at its 1.1 million sq ft centre in Barnsley.

The retailer also plans to extend the facility by 25 per cent, effectively doubling storage capacity at the site.

Norbert Dentressangle, which also has centres at Bellshill and Eurocentral, counts fellow retailers such as House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer among its customers and business development director Martin Palmer said he was confident that the new three-year deal “marks the beginning of a long-term, strategic partnership”.

Asos, which recently announced a 45 per cent surge in total retail sales to £194m for the three months to the end of May, claims to be the world’s most visited fashion website among 18 to 34-year-olds.
