Asda selects I-Design to sell adverts on its cash machines

CASH machine software firm I-Design unveiled a contract with Asda on Monday to sell advertising on the supermarket chain’s network of 1,000 automated teller machines (ATMs).

The Dundee-based firm will receive commission for each advert it sells on the cash machines during the multi-year contract.

Aim-quoted I-Design, which is chaired by advertising industry veteran Jim Faulds, sells adverts on behalf of brands including British Airways, Coca-cola and Vodafone.

Ana Stewart, chief executive at I-Design, said: “We are delighted to be working with Asda Money to deliver third-party advertising on ATMs at Asda stores nationwide.

“The addition of all Asda’s ATM network to our existing UK portfolio strengthens our offering for advertisers significantly and we look forward to driving revenues for Asda Money.”

Banks and building societies – including Nationwide, Royal Bank of Scotland and Santander – already use the Scottish company’s software to show adverts on their cash machines.

Robert Sanders, an analyst at house broker Westhouse, added: “I-Design’s announcement is positive in our view.

“This is another major retailer endorsing I-Design’s marketing and advertising proposition.

“We are making no changes to any of our forecasts and

continue to believe that the investment case for I-Design

is solid.”

Stewart founded I-Design in 1991 and floated the company on Aim in 2007.

One of the company’s early

financial backers was Scottish Enterprise, which still retains a 4.8 per cent stake in the firm.

Stewart and her husband, programmer Ralph Hasselgren, together have a 27 per cent holding in the business. Faulds’ stake is 7.8 per cent.
