The Aberdeen-based firm said Thomas, who takes up the position today, joins from Swiss industrial testing and certification group SGS, where he was senior vice-president at its North American minerals business.

Asco chief executive Derek Smith said: “Our Australasia region is one that has seen significant growth since we first commenced business there in Singapore in 2009 and we are quickly establishing ourselves as one of the market leaders in our field.”
