Architect Keppie promotes Peter Moran to MD

Keppie Design has announced a change in leadership at the Scottish architectural practice, which once counted Charles Rennie Mackintosh as a principal.

The firm, founded in 1854, has promoted Glasgow-based director Peter Moran to the role of managing director, succeeding Martin English.

Chairman David Hardie said Moran, who became a director at the practice in 2002, “brings a wealth of talent and experience to the fore of the business, not just from a Scottish perspective, but from projects he has successfully delivered across the UK and overseas”.

He added: “We’d also like to acknowledge and thank Martin English for his eight years’ service in the MD role. Martin, who is based in Perth, will now be concentrating on developing Keppie’s Perth and Inverness studios and will also have a particular focus on the growth and successful establishment of our recently opened studio in Aberdeen.”

Keppie was last year appointed to design the new £333 million Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), a joint venture between the city council and developer Henry Boot. The project is due for completion in late 2018.

Moran, a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, currently manages all public sector activities for Keppie’s six studio practices across the UK. As well as Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow and Perth, the firm has offices in Edinburgh and Manchester.

“I’m honoured and humbled to have been offered this exciting and challenging role by the Keppie board,” Moran said.

“I’m proud to be part of a continuing heritage that goes way back to 1854 and includes such luminaries as John Keppie, John Honeyman and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. With six studios, 160 people in our team and several award-winning projects, I look forward to the challenge of developing and driving the business forward.”
