With fellow Edinburgh-based outfit Kotikan now devoted to working on products for FanDuel following its acquisition last month by the fantasy sports firm, xDesign is aiming to capitalise on the growing use of mobile software by consumers and companies.

The firm, founded in 2010 by managing director Euan Andrews, was the first in Scotland to develop a commercial Apple Watch app, for Singapore-based WatchMe88, and has also worked with National Museums Scotland and the World Health Organisation.

Andrews said xDesign would be “aggressively hiring” as it seeks to grow its 21-strong workforce to as much as 30 by the end of the year. To provide room for expansion, the developer will be moving to new offices on Dundas Street.
