Anytime Leisure in deal for sports rival

SCOTTISH fitness equipment firm Anytime Leisure has flexed its muscles with the acquisition of rival Cardinal Sports for an undisclosed sum.

The combined company is forecast to deliver a turnover of 4 million in 2011 with further growth into Ireland and England planned in 2012.

Cardinal, which has been in operation for more than 20 years, will continue to operate from its present location in Newbridge with all existing staff. Gerry McManus, Cardinal Sports managing director, said he "felt it was an excellent opportunity for us".
