Amec wins £110m North Sea contract extension from BG

Engineering firm Amec has won a two-year extension to its contract to provide gas producer BG Group with project management support in the North Sea.

The deal, worth about £110 million, will also see Amec provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services and follows on from a three-year deal awarded in 2011.

Under the original contract, Amec completed a number of major projects for BG, including the topside modification of the Armada and North Everest platforms.

Alan Johnstone, managing director of Amec’s European brownfield business, said: “Amec has been supporting BG Group with brownfield engineering and construction services since our first contract award in 2006 and we are delighted to be continuing in our long-term relationship with them.”
