Allison will 'ease burden' for Tulloch's Sutherland

TULLOCH Homes Group has appointed Celtic and Peel Ports director Tom Allison as non-executive chairman after current chairman and chief executive David Sutherland agreed to split the role he has held for 20 years.

Sutherland will focus on his role as chief executive of the Inverness-based company, to ensure its ongoing recovery.

Allison, 62, will add the chairmanship to a number of other directorships.

He is chairman of Peel Ports, which owns property and infrastructure assets throughout the UK including Clydeport, the Manchester Ship Canal and Doncaster-Sheffield airport.

He is also chairman of Keepmoat and UK Smart Metering Group and is a non executive Director of Celtic, a partner in Kiltane Investments, an Ambassador of the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow and a council member of CBI Scotland.

Until recently, he was chairman of Wood Mackenzie, a position he held for six years, and previously held senior positions in Glunz, Rank Zerox, Scottish & Newcastle Breweries and ADT.

Sutherland said: "Our industry is experiencing challenging conditions throughout the UK and in Scotland in particular but we feel our offering in Scotland and especially the Highlands is helping us to energise our sales curves, sell houses and continue on our strategic path."
