Alexander Dennis shares £160m deal

TRANSPORT giant FirstGroup yesterday awarded a £160 million bus-building contract to Falkirk-based Alexander Dennis and Northern Ireland's Wrightbus.

The Aberdeen-based company ordered 955 single- and double-decker buses, including 40 hybrid vehicles, for Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester.

The order includes 200 buses that will be used to take visitors to London for next year's Olympic Games.

First UK Bus managing director Giles Fearnley said: "Our bus order is good news for customers and good news for British industry."
