Aggreko snaps up Pacific rival

Glasgow-based Aggreko has become the biggest temporary power firm in New Zealand and the Pacific islands following a NZ$27.5 million (£12.7m) agreement to acquire a rival.

The firm said it will merge its existing operations in New Zealand with NZ Generator Hire.

Rupert Soames, chief executive of Aggreko, said: "We are delighted to have this opportunity to strengthen our business in New Zealand and the Pacific islands, and we look forward to welcoming the employees of NZ Generator into the Aggreko team."

He added: "This is the kind of bolt-on acquisition which adds value to our business."
