Adverts 'boost to Scottish farming industry'

LACTALIS McLelland announced yesterday it was launching a £1.4 million TV advertising campaign to promote its "Seriously Strong" cheddar cheese, which is made in Stranraer.

The adverts will be seen on major TV channels including ITV, Channel 4 and Sky during breaks during prime-time programmes such as Coronation Street, Heartbeat and Jamie's Ministry of Food.

Andy Smith, managing director of Lactalis McLelland, said: "This investment will provide a boost to the Scottish farming industry as the campaign aims to drive consumers into the dairy aisles and attract a new audience to our award-winning cheeses.

"As a brand we have an important role in reassuring the customer as well as demonstrating to the farmer that we are continually working to strengthen and grow our position in the market place."
