Administrate manages to both recruit and expand

The former finance chief at travel search site Skyscanner, Derek Gardner, has joined Administrate, the Edinburgh-based education technology start-up that also announced today its first overseas expansion.

Administrate, which develops software for training providers and corporates, said Gardner will be its chief financial officer. Also joining as chief product officer is Troy Michels, previously chief training officer at healthcare technology firm, Sentry Data Systems. Administrate said it had opened an office in Bozeman, Montana.

John Peebles, chief executive of the group, whose clients include publishers Elsevier and Brunswick Corporation, said he was “delighted” to welcome the new duo and “excited to learn from their experience”.

He also hailed the expansion, saying Bozeman had a top university and “an outstanding talent pool that is a great fit with the ethos of our business”.
