Duncan and Vicky McConchie, whose adjacent activity centre attracts 15,000 visitors annually, says if the application is passed in the next 12 weeks by Dumfries and Galloway Council the new GG’s Yard, would open in late 2017.

Vicky said the project, near Gatehouse of Fleet, “will maximise upon the potential of a derelict 200-year-old building, which sits on hillside boasting some of the most enviable seaviews in Scotland”.

As well as weddings, the new 1,100 square metre venue will be tailored for corporate functions and business incentive “away days” to cater for between ten and 350 people.

Duncan said business tourism was worth £782m to the Scots economy in 2012, and the new site could create 31 jobs and inject £2m into the area.
