Accountants shred fewer trees

AN Edinburgh-based accountancy firm says it has saved 74 trees since signing up to a new environmentally-friendly waste disposal service.

Geoghegan and Co, an independent firm of chartered accountants, signed up the professional waste disposal services last year, bringing in Shred-it East of Scotland, who specialise in the secure destruction of confidential waste.

The firm said it had since seen significant increases in efficiency – both in the secure handling of confidential information and their recycling capabilities.

Geoghegan and Co office manager Chris Warner said: "We began working with Shred-it to help our operation increase efficiency and become more socially responsible.

"As an organisation we realised we should be recycling as much paper waste as possible."
