Aberdeen tops commercial rent league

Aberdeen remained the commercial property sector's best-performing "regional" city in the UK in 2010, commanding headline rents of £30 per sq ft, according to property firm Knight Frank.

Nearly 350,000sq ft of space was rented out during 2010, up by 33 per cent year-on-year.

Take-up of space in Glasgow rose by 15 per cent to 535,000sq ft, with headline rents of 27 per sq ft. Edinburgh matched Glasgow's headline rent, with the amount of space taken up rising by 5.4 per cent to 511,000sq ft.

Drew Oswald, partner, Knight Frank, said: "The past year has been difficult for the sector but Scotland is still holding up well against other UK cities. Once again, Aberdeen's commercial property sector has retained its top position against key regional cities and is off to a promising first quarter."
