Aberdeen store tops John Lewis sales league
John Lewis has reported a recovery in sales last week, with its Aberdeen store emerging as the best performer.
The employee-owned retailer enjoyed a “modest” 2.8 per cent rise in total sales to £71.9 million for the week to 5 October, having suffered a 3.7 per cent slide the previous week as unseasonably warm weather knocked footfall.
John Lewis said gadgets such as laptops and high-definition TVs performed well, while Prime Minister David Cameron’s recent revelation that he uses a bread-making machine saw sales of food preparation devices make “great strides”.
