70 jobs saved as Simclar finds buyer

SEVENTY of the 200 jobs under threat at Dunfermline-based engineering firm Simclar have been saved after administrators sold the business to investment group Greenfold Partners.

Bill Taylor, Ivan McKee and Adrian Gare, partners at Manchester-based Greenfold, already own Ionix, an industrial wire-making business, which they said would complement Simclar’s work. Simon Wallwork, a partner at Glasgow-based law firm Semple Fraser’s Manchester office, advised on the deal.

Deloitte was appointed as Simclar’s administrator in June.
