3D sales on the rise and turnover up

Medical device maker 3D Diagnostic Imaging says it has sold more than 600 of its hand-held CarieScan tooth decay detectors and achieved a turnover of £566,000 in the second half of last year.

The Dundee-based firm raised 2.7 million when it launched on the AIM in November. Yesterday it announced its maiden interim results for the six months to 31 December, revealing a loss before tax of 981,000, in line with directors' expectations. But the period marked the first meaningful commercial sales for CarieScan as the company set up distribution agreements in the USA and Canada, and it has since signed up a distributor for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Chief executive Graham Lay said it was difficult to say at what point 3D might start to trade profitably, but it would most likely be in the second half of 2012.
