Young artists create future

TALENTED young artists have the chance to exhibit their work alongside that of Quentin Blake, best known for his illustrations of Roald Dahl books.

Launched today, the 2010 Junior Painter of the Year competition is asking primary school children across the UK to paint their vision of the future, be that inventions, flying cars, spaceships or aliens. The competition is aiming to promote the use of paint in school classrooms, while encouraging children to reflect on sight and blindness among their peers.

Blake said: "As an artist and illustrator it gives me such pleasure to see the world's future artists creating their own vision of the future."
