MUSIC: HOT CHIP

One of Britain’s longest-standing electronic acts, and easily the hippest looking I.T support team around, are set to entertain a sell-out crowd at the Barrowlands tonight. Don’t be fooled by all the techy equipment, Hot Chip throw everything into their live shows and are bound to have the audience bouncing along to their blockbuster back catalogue.

EXHIBITION: HIDEYUKI KATSUMATA: USO DE HONTOU

If you’re lucky enough to have Friday afternoon free, then a wander to the DCA is definitely recommended. The centre’s walls has been transformed into a landscape of psychedelic cartoon strips by Japanese artist Hideyuki Katsumata, in his first ever UK exhibiton. Enter Kastsuma’s weird and wonderful world of robots, samurais, dragons and J-Pop music videos. Something very much out of the ordinary.

FILM: THE PROGRAM

A cinematic take on one of the biggest scandals in the history of sport. Director Stephen Frears brings his own take on Irish journalist David Walsh (Chris O’Dowd) and his attempts to uncover the doping secrets of America’s national hero Lance Armstrong. Already being hailed as a dark horse for the Oscars, ‘The Program’ is turning the heads of many critics and is on at the GFT until October 28.

THEATRE: LORD OF THE FLIES

The penultimate performance of this classic morality tale, reimagined by London’s award-winning Regent’s Park Theatre company. Despite it being six decades since William Golding’s book was originally published, this story of a group of schoolchildren stranded on a desert island after a catastrophic plane crash still resonates with audiences young and old.
