MUSIC: BILLY BRAGG

Billy Bragg will be bringing his politically-charged sounds to Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street this evening. The fact that the English singer-songwriter is still making music and playing live after over three decades is a testament to his live shows and the energy of his fanbase.

FILM: CLOUDBURST

Running as an extension of the inaugural Scottish Queer International Film Festival which ran in September, SQIFF are partnering with the BFI’s ‘Love’ series to screen a number of films depicting female relationships and gay marriage. Glasgow’s Contemporary Arts will be hosting a screening of Thom Fitzgerald’s Cloudburst, the story of an elderly lesbian couple who escape their nursing home and head to Canada to be wed.

EXHIBITION: ROSE STREET PROJECT

Art doesn’t always have to be about stuffy gallery spaces. If you happen to be wandering near Edinburgh’s Rose Street this evening, then you can catch a glimpse of the displays and installations by local artists who have been commissioned for a number of shop fronts including Creative Cookware and Clooney favourite Social Bite.

THEATRE: ENGLISH NATIONAL OPERA: THE MIKADO

The way in which we consume theatre is drastically changing. Tonight, people around the country will be heading to their local cinemas, where the London Coliseum beamed live directly to them in crisp high definition. This Jonathan Miller production of a Gilbert and Sullivan classic has received critical acclaim for its wit, staging and hilarity.
