Wardrobe of the week: Andreas Siegfried

Where do you keep your clothes?

They’re in several wardrobes and a closet which I’m permanently rearranging so the rails don’t collapse with the weight.

Do you shop alone?

I prefer to - I usually know what I want and the moment I am under the influence of somebody else I lose focus.

Where do you buy your underwear?

I used to get all my underwear at Century 21 in New York. Sadly the store has been closed since 11 September.

What was your most extravagant purchase?

A Herms cashmere jacket, which I thought I absolutely must have. I’ve worn it twice.

You’ve borrowed a black suit - how do you make it look yours?

I’d wear coloured socks and a funky shirt and tie.

What wouldn’t you be seen dead in?

I doubt anyone will ever see me wearing a pair of brown Patrick Cox Wannabes with black vinyl trousers and a skintight T-shirt.

Whose style inspires you?

I very much live for the moment, so if I travel and discover new things or meet inspiring people, I automatically tune in to that particular mood and dress accordingly.

You never wear it, but you could never throw it out?

I’ll probably never get rid of the suede Gucci jacket I bought some years ago - if only because I still hope the day will come when I actually wear it for the first time.

What are you dying to buy this season

and what’s got to go?

I want a pair of super cool, well-cut jeans by Diesel, and I’m getting rid of a pair of totally uncool, badly cut Hugo Boss jeans.

Five minutes, five hours - how long does it take you to get ready?

Depending on how complicated my current hairstyle is to manage, I take anything from five to 15 minutes.

How would you describe your own style?

Eclectic though mostly classic with a definite personal touch.

High heels or flats?

I am actually tall enough to wear flats, but if I were a drag queen I’d definitely wear Christian Louboutin high heels and knock ’em all out...

Dress for the occasion, conformist or anarchist?

It’s hard to choose between conformist and anarchist - I am a little bit of both depending on my mood.
