Star Wars: The Fandom Awakens

The final trailer for the highly anticipated new Star Wars film was released on Monday, less than two months before Star Wars: The Force Awakens is due to hit UK cinemas. The fast-paced trailer packs countless new characters, familiar faces and plot signposts into just two and a half minutes. Franchise veterans Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) will return for the seventh Star Wars installment, but there was no no obvious sign of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

Marty McFly’s tries on some real self-lacing shoes for size

After more than 25 years of waiting (unless he really is a time traveller) Michael J Fox - who played Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy - has finally been given a real pair of self-lacing trainers. In Back to the Future Part II Marty can be seen donning a pair of Nike-branded shoes with laces which automatically tie themselves, and after patenting the concept in 2009 Nike has finally produced a line of self-lacing trainers just in time for the real 2015.

This heartwarming video shows Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, trying on a pair of self-lacers similar to the ones he wore in the film for the first time.

Drake pulls old school shapes in new music video

Canadian rapper Drake’s latest music video, Hotline Bling, has become an overnight hit – as a meme. The minimalist video focuses on the artist as he demonstrates some impressive/cringeworthy dance moves that some have likened to “old-man dancing”. The parodies and creative homages came thick and fast after Drake’s video hit the web, with everything from tennis rackets to bowling balls hilariously superimposed onto the original footage.

A special message from Doc Brown

Another new piece of Back to the Future ephemera came from Christopher Lloyd earlier this week. In the clip, Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown returns in the DeLorean for just 40 seconds to assure fans that the future is here and it’s what you make it. It’s a bit wishy-washy, sure, but it reduced our office sentimentalists to mush.

Adele says ‘Hello’

After a three-year hiatus, Adele today released new single ‘Hello’ from her upcoming album, 25. The sepia-tinted video, an atmospheric affair, sees her sporting her signature winged eyeliner and belting out a typically powerful love ballad.
