AN exhibition of the life of one of Scotland’s most enigmatic historical figures, Mary, Queen of Scots, has sought to unravel the mystery behind the life of the 16th century monarch.

Showcasing rarely-seen items connected to Mary, Queen of Scots, including jewellery, documents, maps, embroidery, portraits and other personal possessions, the exhibition at Edinburgh’s National Museum of Scotland intends to offer a never-before seen insight into the young royal’s turbulent reign.

George Dalgleish, one of the curators of the exhibition, spoke to The Scotsman to reveal more about the history behind the collection on display.
