Scotland is blessed with rich pickings when it comes to stunning coastlines, so we've picked a few of the lesser-known gems from across the nation.

Scotland is known the world over for its postcard landscapes of Bens and Glens and our glistening coastlines are of equal repute.

However, if you venture further down the road less traveled, take a right off the beaten track and descend the stairs down to the middle of nowhere you’ll eventually stumble upon one of Scotland’s many hidden beaches.

From the award-winning sands of Wester Ross and Seilebost on Harris to the emerald waves of Vatersay, Scotland has hundreds - if not thousands - of unspoiled beaches that have remained secluded and serene.

On the west coast of the Highlands, between Morar and Arisaig, dozens of white sandy beaches are sprinkled along the coast, all part of the Silver Sands of Morray.

St Andrews West Sands are far from secluded, but a must-visit location for all beach-lovers. While you’re there, take the opportunity to re-enact the opening scene from the 1981 film, Chariots of Fire, shot on the very same two-mile stretch of uninterrupted sand.
