Up and coming: I Blame Coco

WHO is I Blame Coco? The clue is in her full birth name: Eliot Pauline Styler-Sumner. Ring any bells?

I'm thinking rainforests and Tantric sex…

Yup, Coco Sumner is the elegantly dishevelled 19-year-old offspring of Gordon Sumner, aka Sting, and Trudie Styler. Having already dabbled in acting and modelling, it is clearly time to give music a bash. Unsurprisingly, she prefers to go by the moniker I Blame Coco in the vain hope that people will judge her on her own merits and not mention her parents. Her parents, by the way, are Sting and Trudie Styler.

What does she sound like?

No great surprise that the spawn of Sting should at first head off in a reggae-lite direction. But some time spent in Sweden working with Miike Snow and Robyn put paid to that and she has re-emerged with a brace of shiny electro pop ditties, including current single Caesar, which are broadly in the La Roux vein, but, unlike La Roux, not sung in a shrill key which doesn't suit her voice. You can almost hear Coco pouting in her delivery.
