7pm Take a taxi to the Imperial Bar and Lounge (www.imperialbarand lounge.com) for an old-school happy hour (5pm-7pm).

8:30pm Walk round the corner to 4th Street Bistro (www.4thstbistro.com) which prides itself on using fresh, sustainable, local and seasonal ingredients.

Saturday, 11am Head to Dish Cafe (www.dishcafecatering.com) and try homemade quiche for breakfast. Quirky comfort food.

1pm Drive out of Reno, towards North Lake Tahoe, 6,225 feet above sea level with breathtaking views. Tour Thunderbird Lodge (www.thunderbirdtahoe.org), a museum on the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe.

3pm Drop into the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe (www.laketahoe.hyatt.com) for afternoon tea.

6pm Go further south for an early dinner at the Edgewood Restaurant (www.edgewoodtahoe.com), voted the most scenic restaurant at Tahoe and the perfect place to watch sunset over the lake.
