5pm Pop back to the hotel for a spa.

Noon Window shopping on Piazza dei Martiri, where there are luxury boutiques galore (including Gucci and Cartier).

1pm Take a pit-stop at restaurant, Scaturchio (19 Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, tel: 0039 81 551 6944, www.scaturchio.it) to sample their zepole.

3pm Visit the Museo Nazionale (Piazza Museo, 19 Napoli, tel: 0039 81 440 166) to view treasures taken from the cities buried when Vesuvius erupted in AD79.

5pm Head for the Via Toledo thoroughfare, where you'll find chocolate shop Gay Odin (427 Via Toledo, tel: 0039 81 551 3491, www.gay-odin.it) and, nearby, Ferrari (60 Via M Cervantes, tel: 0039 81 551 0142) – a design shop with pieces by the likes of Alessi.

8pm Return flight to Edinburgh.
