Top award puts Gordon in Spotlight

THE winner of the 2010 Edinburgh Playhouse Spotlight Award, presented in association with the Evening News, has been named as 53-year-old lighting designer and backstage technician Gordon Hughes.

Presenting the award, James Haworth, general manager of the Edinburgh Playhouse, said: "It is clear that not only is he a very talented person but he is also extremely generous with both his time and sharing his experience with other people."

Mr Hughes, from Goldenacre, lit his first show 37 years ago and has since worked with most of the city's amateur companies.
