Scottish Ballet will be broadcasting a behind-the-scenes look at the new production of Swan Lake by award-winning choreographer David Dawson.

It will be their first re-imagining of the classic ballet in our 20 years, which will premiere in spring 2016. The footage will show an exclusive look at the rehearsal studio as Dawson creates a visceral and daring interpretation of the iconic piece on Scottish Ballet, performed by principal dancers Sophie Martin and Christopher Harrison.

The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, and San Francisco Ballet will also have their work broadcast on the site.

Exclusive backstage footage will stream for five hours from 11.00am.

Kevin O’Hare, director of The Royal Ballet, will lead a panel discussion live from Covent Garden on the future of ballet in the UK at 2pm.

The panel will include directors from each UK ballet company joining World Ballet Day live; David Bintley (director, Birmingham Royal Ballet), Tamara Rojo (artistic director and lead principal dancer, english national ballet), Christopher Hampson (CEO/artistic director, Scottish Ballet) and David Nixon (artistic director, Northern Ballet).
