Theatre review: The Indescribable Phenomenon, Greenside, Royal Terrace

AS the audience files in, four shadowy characters are huddled over a table, mid-séance.

It’s the perfect, spooky opening to an equally spooky production revolving around the enigmatic Anna Eva Fey, one of the most renowned mediums and stage mentalists of the 20th century.

A cast of four lead the audience on a whirlwind tour of the complicated world of the spiritualist big shots of olden times. Although the story is poignant and mystifying, it’s also complex and convoluted. Telling it in just one hour stretches the cast and the audience.
