Theatre review: A Royal Flush

This new comedy from Cat O' Nine Tales has the makings of an enjoyable caper, with game performances and ready laughs all round. A tabloid editor becomes embroiled in negotiations to free a kidnapped princess on his first day on the job.

A Royal Flush attempts to make a serious point about the demise of print and rise of social media as news conduits but the argument is made rather clunkily within the text and it is the more farcical elements of the script, such as the ridiculous bickering of the inept kidnappers, which gives the show its momentum.

Until 26 August. Tomorrow 1:45pm.
