Creators Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill have called a press conference for next Wednesday to announce “an exciting new venture”.

The announcement was handled in part by the SECC, leading to speculation that the comedy about two elderly friends who live next door to each other in a Glasgow tower block will make a return to its stage origins.

Still Game originated as a play in 1997, and the characters of Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade later appeared in BBC sketch comedy Chewin’ the Fat.

Still Game began its run as a BBC sitcom in 2002. The series ran for six series and won several Scottish BAFTA awards before its final episode in 2007.
