Review: Street Cries, C (venue 34)

Apparently inspired by Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood, this musical paints a portrait of London over the course of a day, from homeless teenagers to war veterans and bored Chelsea housewives.

Star rating: * *

It is not done badly – but I can’t get away from the idea that it’s an excuse for the two performers to put on different coats and do lots of different characters. It feels like it was written by actors who wanted to act, rather than by anyone who felt they had something meaningful to say. Dylan Thomas it ain’t.

Until 27 August. Today 8:25pm.
