Review: Freedom Family Circus, Gryphon Venues at The Point Hotel (venue 109)

There’s something endearingly unsophisticated about this strange, international “circus” which comprises mainly jugglers who multi-task by
also being part of the house band.

Star rating: * *

Juggling – whether it’s skittles, supposedly random objects, blades or balls, and whether on two feet, on a unicycle or lying on the ground – dominates the show, which on the day I saw it had as its theme The Circus Olympics.

The theme varies from show to show, but the production could really do with more variety and less juggling. The performers are very likeable, and the ringmaster is great with the children, so it gets by on its charms.

Until 25 August. Today 1:40pm.
