LADY SINGS IT BETTER

This all-female cabaret troupe perform songs usually only sung by men – from Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls to Peter Andre’s Mysterious Girl. “Number after number the ladies nail it, tackling the blatant misogyny and unthinking silliness of male-centred pop songs with talent and charm,” wrote Martin Gray on Friday. They’re at the Gilded Balloon Teviot until 27 August.

TUBULAR BELLS FOR TWO

Surely it takes more than two people to tackle Mike Oldfield’s prog rock epic? Apparently not, as this duo is skilfully demonstrating at Assembly. “Watch these guys and you conclude that Oldfield had it easy,” marvelled Jim Gilchrist in

a five-star review last Wednesday.

Noah has some fascinating and very funny tales to tell in his Fringe debut, at the Pleasance Courtyard until 27 August.

“I’m not an offensive comedian. The worst thing I do is shout,” Nick Helm told Jay Richardson in our cover feature on Saturday. This Means War!, Helm’s show at the Pleasance Dome, is certainly full on – “a glorious, bloody mess” was our verdict – but it’s also very, very funny.

Created by the South Korean team behind Fringe hit Chef!, this football-inspired show at Assembly Hall – about a hapless team trying to improve their soccer skills – is energetic, family-friendly fun.
