Lunchtime forensics with Watching The Detective

GOT a free lunch time this week? Then head to the Traverse Theatre for Watching The Detective, the final production in the current season of A Play A Pie And A Pint.

Written and directed by Paddie Cunneen, the one-man show stars Stuart Bowman as a forensic scientist surrounded by poetic sorrow. As he contemplates his latest case questions crowd in: Who was she? What’s the story? And why, with his epicurean dreams of being a gourmet chef, does he spend his life filleting so much human misery.

And then there’s the other questions. The ones we must as of ourselves. Why are we so obsessed with detectives? Television schedules are full of them. He’s seen it all before, you’ve seen it all before.

Cunneen, a writer, director and composer, is perhaps best known for the Fleeto which played this year’s Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews as part of the Made In Scotland season.

The world premiere of Watching The Detective brings down the curtain on the fourth season of lunchtime theatre at the Traverse, and as ever ticket price include the 45-minute play along with a pie and, you’ve guessed it, a pint.
